Q.) Describe who Robert La Follette of Wisconsin was, and what was the Wisconsin Plan?
A.) He was an American politician who served as a U.S. Congressman and the 20th Governor of Wisconsin (1901–1906). He was also a Republican Senator from Wisconsin (1906–1925). He ran for President of the United States as the nominee of his own Progressive Party in 1924, carrying Wisconsin and 17% of the national popular vote. The Wisconsin Plan initiated substantial legislative reforms and their subsequent promotion by forward-thinking leaders. It encouraged an environment open to change in the state and helped institute legislative reforms.

Q.) Briefly describe why there was a need for “Direct elections of senators”.
A.) When the State Legislatures chose the Senators which allowed Congress to regulate the places of choosing Senators would allow the Congress to essentially stipulate where the state's legislature had to meet, at least for the purposes of choosing its Senators, which would have been inconsistent with state sovereignty.

Q.) Explain in your own words: Initiative, Referendum, and Recall
A.) Initiative- Provides a means by which a petition signed by a certain minimum number of registered voters can force a public vote on a proposed statute, constitutional amendment, charter amendment or ordinance, or, in its minimal form, to simply oblige the executive or legislative bodies to consider the subject by submitting it to the order of the day. It is a form of direct democracy.
Referendum- Is a direct vote in which an entire electorate is asked to either accept or reject a particular proposal.
Recall- Is a procedure by which voters can remove an elected official from office.
