Also, most women faced still holding the lowest paying jobs and the jobs that offered the least opportunity. Women were faced were severe discrimination due to their role in society. Just because they were women, many people/jobs looked at them as useless and a waste of money.
2. The background which led to the 18th amendment was Prohibition. The average American in the 1790s drank 3 times as much as they did in the 1990s. After the Civil War, several prohibition groups were formed, wanting to ban the consumption of alcohol. Prohibition led to temperance which would ban alcohol. This soon led to the ratification of the 18th amendment which prohibited "the manufacturing, sale, and transportation of intoxicating liquors."

1.) During the progressive movement women faced many issues. Most women were employed to help their families make enough money but they were at the bottom of the money making chain. Women made the least amount of money and had the least amount of opportunity. Women also wanted the right to vote. Most men felt that women were inferior and understood why they were not aloud to vote. However, women suffragists fought for fair women’s rights.
2.) During the 1900’s alcohol was a fairly new substance that was being sold. Many men would go to work and after go to a saloon or bar and get drunk. When they returned home they would beat their wives and children. Alcohol was also used in a lot of house hold products. An invention was made for teething children. You would apply this medicine on their gums and it would make them feel better. However, as years passed children became addicted to the teething medicine until finally it was banned.
